From a friend of the artist to my own collection, I've always marvelled at the brushwork of this piece.

His work is represented in many museums including the National Gallery, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Butler Museum. More recently, Newell is featured in Robert Austin's book, “Artists of the Litchfield Hills.”
