A beautiful young woman with flowers by an artist best known for his still lifes and portraits. Carl Blenner was born in Richmond, Virginia. He studied at Yale and then in Paris for six years at the Academie Julian. Blenner exhibited widely, including at the Paris Salon, the Pennsylvania Academy, the Boston Art Club, the National Academy, the Pan-American Expo., the St. Louis Expo, and the Art Institute of Chicago, winning numerous awards and medals. He was much in demand as a portrait artist, and painted many notables in the United States and abroad. In 1915 he turned to flower studies and became famous for his still lifes.
