A serene early 20th c. work set in excellent period arts and crafts frame. Clara Davidson was born in St. Louis. She studied at the Art Students League and at Cooper Union, and also in Paris. She settled in Norwalk, Connecticut and was a member of the Silvermine Art Colony there. She was a member of the Silvermine Guild of Artists and the National Association of Women Artists. She also exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Pennsylvania Academy, the Society of Independent Artists, and the Philadelphia Art Club. Davidson created covers for Town & Country, the Saturday Evening Post, and other periodicals. Her work was included in the exhibition of women artists, "A Studio of Her Own," at the Boston Museum of Fine Art.
