A charming example of the artist's work. Charles Paul Gruppe was the first of a family of important artists and father of Emile Gruppe. Born in Ontario, Gruppe lived in the Netherlands for over twenty years, and is closely aligned with the Dutch school of painting. Upon his return to the United States he lived in Rochester and in Gloucester. Gruppe exhibited at the National Academy, the Pennsylvania Academy, the Boston Art Club, and many more.
